Corporate Headshot Guidelines
WHAT TO WEAR
Clinicians: Please bring your personalized CCC lab coat if you have one. It should be clean and pressed. If you don’t have one, we’ll provide a generic CCC or plain lab coat on-site.
Necklines: Please avoid sleeveless tops or low necklines and skip scrubs for the photo- they can appear too low cut. A blouse, dress shirt, or top with a clean, higher neckline always looks sharp and professional.
Clothing: Consider choosing clothing and accessories with a timeless style, not one that will date your headshot. Suits are common for most corporate headshots, and a suit will almost certainly make you look more confident.
Accessories: Jewelry should be simple and professional. Necklaces are a great addition. Thin chains are okay but can get lost in a photo. Thick or multi-strand necklaces, especially pearls, have proven to work well in headshots.
Make sure your clothes are wrinkle and lint free before arriving.
COLOURS AND TONES
Keep it simple: Solid, mid-tone colours photograph best. Try to avoid busy patterns or very light shades like cream or beige, which can wash out on camera.
Switch up the black: If you usually wear black, consider warmer neutrals like navy, dark green, burgundy, or chocolate for a softer, more flattering look. It is good to have contrast between dark and light tones, such as a darker jacket with a lighter coloured shirt. Adding a colour into your outfit with a tie, shirt, or pocket square creates a nice accent.
HAIR
Wear your hair how it is usually seen or how you would like it to be seen.
Bring a brush and some hair product (gel/hairspray) with you to help calm fly-aways.
MAKEUP AND FACE
Makeup: aim for even matte skin, soft neutral eyes, groomed brows, a touch of warm blush, and a “your-lips-but-better” lipstick colour with a satin finish (avoid heavy gloss, shimmer, or bold colours).
Be clean shaven or if you have facial hair, keep it tidy. Trim your ear, nose, and eyebrow hairs if needed.
Avoid applying face lotion before your session - it will make your face shiny under the lights.
If you have oily skin, bring some blotting paper or tissue with you.
